Here is another example of how the foreign media continues to try to discredit President Rodrigo Duterte. This time it is an article for a UK based media company – Independent.

The headline seeks to portray an image of our dear President as someone who is volatile and dangerous and uses this image to reinforce their conclusion that this is what is driving the portrayed extra judicial killings in the country. They use a 1998 psychological assessment done by a Dr. Natividad Dayan as part of his annulment case with ex-wife Elizabeth Zimmerman.
Here are some of the things they say about Duterte:
The assessment found Mr Duterte suffered from “antisocial narcissistic personality disorder”, a pattern of abnormal behaviour characterised by “gross indifference, insensitivity and self-centeredness” and “grandiose sense of self-entitlement and manipulative behaviours“.
The politician was described as having a “pervasive tendency to demean, humiliate others and violate their rights and feelings”, and was “unable to reflect on the consequences of his actions.”
He was found to readily engage in “unhealthy and destructive behaviours” and had “poor capacity for objective judgement”, failing to “see things in the light of facts”.
The article then uses this 1998 psychological assessment to support their conclusion that Duterte is a raving mad psychopath who has instituted a state sponsored campaign of extra judicial killing. Read this part of the Article:
Amnesty International said Mr Duterte’s “first 100 days as President have been marked by state-sanctioned violence on a truly shocking scale”
The article conveniently forgets the fact that the assessment was done 18 years ago and Duterte, like any other person, may have changed. The fact that they had to use a very old psychological assessment shows how desperate and irresponsible this media outlet is. Just look at the kind of relationship Duterte has now with his ex-wife Elizabeth Zimmerman:

Here is how indifferent and insensitive Duterte is according to Zimmerman when she was asked about her relationship with Duterte now (2016):
Here is another example of Duterte’s anti-social narcissistic, self-centered behaviour and sense of entitlement when he went to help victims of Yolanda:
Take this case of him visiting our wounded soldiers – very uncaring and indifferent:
Aside from the irresponsibility and lack of taste shown by this article, they also make some crazy jumps in logic and makes ridiculous assertions. Here is their logic summarized:
Premise:
18 yrs ago one Doctor made a psychological diagnosis of Duterte.
A few days ago a Filipino celebrity without a degree in clinical psychology assessed Duterte as a psychopath.
Since Duterte took office there has been a rise in vigilante killings in the Philippines.
The rise in vigilante killings also started when Duterte launched his war on drugs.
Conclusion:
The rise in vigilante killings during the term of President Duterte is attributable to him (and state sanctioned) because he has been diagnosed of having this tendency (within his marital relationship)18 yrs ago and recently confirmed by a Filipino celebrity without any clinical psychology background.
