Here is another great example to f how credible and honest main stream media is in the Philippines. The CNN Philippines headline for this video says “Lawyers planning to sue Trillanes over anti-Duterte remark”. The headlines make it sound like pro-Duterte lawyers are going after another member of the opposition for the simple reason of opposing the President.
This has been the Liberal party opposition and main streammedia narrative for a long time – the Duterte administration is vindictive, they jail people from the opposition, they silence the opposition with law suits. The headline from CNN Philippines supports this narrative.
There is one big problem with this headline though, it is misleading and a clear propaganda. Trillanes is being sued not for his anti-Duterte remark or his opposition to Duterte. He is being sued for calling on soldiers to assasinate the President. He was on record when he said this in the Senate floor during a privileged speech. Why didn’t CNN Philippines write “Lawyers to sue Trillanes for remarks calling on soldiers to assasinate the President”? Because it would not have supported the narrative they have been selling from the beginning.
This is the kind of main stream media the Philippines has. This is the kind of main stream media who has tried to discredit Duterte from the very beginning. This is the kind of main stream media Harry Roque is trying to protect. This is the kind of bull shit content we all have to contend with in a daily basis from Philippine media. This is the kind of fake news we have to fight against each and every day. We, the true Duterte supporters ,who use the power of Social media to check the abusive power of main stream media.
