This is proof that the threat of terrorism in Mindanao is real and the long standing conflict in the region is still creating a powder keg ready to erupt any time. The Liberal party controlled media establishment in Metro Manila is quick to downplay the threat of terror in Mindanao – remember how they downplayed the Davao bombing and the Maute group threat as a ploy by the Duterte administration to declare martial law.
Yes the Liberal party controlled media establishment will “mourn” this loss but will also be very quick to allude to the idea that the Duterte administration will use this to justify the declaration of Martial Law. Yes, the Liberal party opposition is that jaded and that out of touch. Any attack on Mindanao is a political ploy. Any blood spilled in Mindanao is just part of a sinister plot to install a dictator.
It is easy for the Liberal party opposition to spin this because the threat is not close to the center of their political power. They will downplay the terror threat in Mindanao because it does not serve their interest in trying to take back power. The biggest threat for the Liberal party opposition right now is Duterte. The fierceness of their opposition to Duterte and the fervour in which they express their opposition shows how threatened they are by Duterte. They do not show the same fierceness and fervour when defending the blood of Mindanaoans. In fact they denigrate the value of the lives lost in the Mindanao conflict by using them as a political tool to support the false and arrogant narrative they have been creating to support their attempt to usurp power from the sovereign.
