The opposition block of Liberal party aligned senators recently issued a statement condemning the further extension of martial law in Mindanao. In their own words:
They represent the voice and interest of Mindanao in declaring their opposition to martial law extension. What’s interesting about this is the fact that Senators are not elected by a constituent from anywhere, they are elected in a national election so they do not represent any one group of people. Another interesting tidbit is the fact that none of these senators are from Mindanao. So, if they were not elected by a Mindanao based constituency and they are not from Mindanao, what made them so sure what Mindanaoans want?
Maybe they based their opposition on survey results about popular support of the martial law declaration. Surely they based their statement on something concrete. Saying they support the position of Mindanaoans is a bold statement, considering the facts we established earlier. Let us see what Mindanaoans say about martial law based on survey results:

Oh, and it has majority support nationwide too. So, where did the 5 senators get the idea that Mindanaoans oppose martial law in Mindanao? The only thing I can think of is their hubris. Yes, the Liberal party opposition has a problem of hubris. They overstep their boundaries and over reach for things they cannot handle. They do not represent Mindanao, that is a fact, and they obviously do not have a handle on what Mindanao wants. I sincerely suggest these people just shut-up about who they represent because we all know the answer to that – they represent the special interest of a Liberal political and economic agenda backed by legacy oligarchs desperately trying to cling to power. Their days are numbered and they know it. All they can do now is offer us all a bag of shit.
